3 Red Sox mistakes against the Yankees sum up a disastrous season

The Boston Red Sox were far from a proper season, and their recent run against the New York Yankees highlighted some of their weaknesses.

The Boston Red Sox had a chance to show some progress against the Yankees at home this week. Instead, their two-game series showcased all the things that made this season so frustrating.

With a 7-6, 5-3 loss, Boston couldn’t gain an advantage and slipped to 2-6 in their last eight games.

It’s no surprise now that the team, sometimes the best in the Eastern First Division, depending on the season, needs work.

3 Red Sox mistakes against the Yankees sum up a disastrous season

One of the biggest disappointments was a small mill hit by J.D. Martinez. Martinez hit the Grinder to the shortstop. The short Yankees sent her in with ease and dumped him for second, knocking out. Then the second baseman threw it out without hesitation first, took out Martinez and completed a double play.

Boston’s Raphael Devers, unfortunately, also got a penalty, barely swinging on a questionable court with a complete lack of confidence.

In the worst play ever, the Red Sox missed the ball multiple times within 60 seconds. Yankees’ Jabber Torres hit a solid line in the right field. The Red Sox right-hander went to throw in at the start, and the second baseman went for cover and missed completely.

The catcher backed up and initially threw out, and the first base commander was completely wronged. The Red Sox gave up running through the entire disaster.

Boston certainly looks less likely to make the playoffs, while the Yankees are starting to look a little better than last month. The Red Sox likely won’t make it to the bottom of the NL East standings this season.
