50 Cent marks the end of the partnership with Starz

Curtis James Jackson III, better known by his stage name 50 Cent, will become a free agent in the entertainment industry, according to the rapper’s social media posts on the matter. “Power” franchise maker and executive producer has indicated that it will not renegotiate its partnership with Starz when its deal expires on Friday.

“09-17-22 Official day to truly own my content and decide where and how to do it moving forward,” 50 Cent wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday morning.

50 Cent is involved in a four-year deal with the premium cable banner owned by Lionsgate. The rapper’s series “Power” premiered on the network in 2014, and ran for six seasons before concluding in 2020. However, the show has since spawned three separate series, all of which are still on the air. The rapper also produced the crime series “BMF” for the network.

50 Cent expressed his plans to exit his partnership with Starz in March, participating in a series of callouts against the network: “This is me packing my things, STARZ. Sucks, we agreed to finish here.”

Even taking into account the ramifications between the two parties, 50 Cent’s production tenure at Starz has been a resounding success, launching several beloved series and cementing a proven track record that should make it an attractive prospect for industry aficionados in the coming weeks.
