How Mike Tomlin used Brian Flores to return to the Patriots

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has hired Brian Flores as his offensive game strategy for his week two game against the New England Patriots.

It remains to be seen if this move will work, but it’s a great strategy to employ when you have a former senior Patriots assistant on the coaching staff.

Tomlin has Flores at his disposal. Flores, a former senior defensive assistant for the Patriots and later head coach of the Miami Dolphins (same New England division, for those who need a refresher), is familiar with the system. Therefore, Flores sat down in the Steelers’ offensive meetings to give some pointers when necessary.

Pittsburgh’s foul offense was in their opening game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Ideally, using Flores would help things out a bit against New England.

Steelers: Would using Brian Flores help against the Patriots?

Bill Belichick is known for his dribbling in his defensive scheming, so it’s possible that a few things have changed since Flores was familiar with the specs and concepts.

However, tips like the one used this week are reason to bring in Tomlin Flores. He’s one of the best assistant coaches in the NFL, and will likely be a head coach again one day.

Flores reportedly had other opportunities this season when the Dolphins left him, but he chose Pittsburgh instead.

“It was great, so much fun,” Flores said. Marc Capule, the athlete. “There’s a lot of talking and a lot of ideas and creative ideas. It’s been a great experience so far, and I’m excited for those moments when I’m sitting in those meetings. I’m learning a lot, and it’s been a great experience for me. I like to think I’ve been in some good places and around some Good coaches.Athletic coach [Mike Tomlin]And the [defensive coordinator Teryl Austin] Don’t take a back seat to any of them.”

Returning to a position of strength – the linebacker – is clever from Flores as he works his way up the main training ladder.
