Pennsylvania, Oregon climbs into the top 25 in the AP

The new college football rankings were announced as the AP Top 25 College Football Poll went live on Sunday.

Penn State and Oregon are among the teams that have benefited most from the latest set of college football rankings provided by the Associated Press.

The AP Top 25 poll was released at 2:00 PM ET on Sunday afternoon, which was pretty cool. We didn’t have to wait forever to see what the Associated Press thought of the best teams on the college football field. While the Nittany Lions and Ducks had solid wins over Auburn and BYU in Week 3, there wasn’t much movement at the top of the latest AP Top 25 Poll for Week 4.

Brace yourselves for what the Associated Press thinks are the 25 best teams in the country…

The top five did not move, with Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, Michigan and Clemson maintaining their positions. While Oklahoma and University of Southern California remained at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, Kentucky State and Oklahoma swapped places for No. 8 and No. 9. Arkansas remained in No. 10, despite feeling almost awkward at home in Bobby Petrino Powell. Those feisty Missouri bears…

Since we’re venturing outside the top ten a little bit, this is where the big changes in this week’s AP Top 25 poll took place. 11 to 15 are as follows: Tennessee, North Carolina, Utah, Pennsylvania and Oregon. They all moved in at least one place. Tennessee and North Carolina advance four points each. Pennsylvania moved up eight places, while Oregon moved up 10 from being No. 25.

From #16 to #20 as follows: Ole Miss, Baylor, Washington, BYU, Florida. Ole Miss climbed four points. Baylor remained in place. Washington debuted on the AP Top 25 this year. BYU fell seven points behind Oregon, while Florida fell two places after having problems with the USF. Wake Forest, Texas, Texas A&M, Pittsburgh and Miami round out the top 25 in the AP poll this week.

Overall, it was a very good week for the Power Five conferences. You can find a minimum of three ranked teams from each conference, with the Big Ten appearing in the back with only three ranked teams (No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Michigan, No. 14 Penn State). However, it seems approximate for the group of five. BYU is the only ranked team among that group, and Oregon has hosted Cougars.

Teams with votes this week include Michigan State, Florida State, App State, and…Kansas!
