Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A Houston police officer is expected to be fine after his cruiser was hit and capsized at an intersection on the north side of the city.

Police said a woman in the car that rammed the officer sustained minor injuries after the accident in Calvalcade and Irvington shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

According to HPD’s Vehicle Crime Division, the officer was on a foot chase call and was heading west at the Cavalcade with lights and sirens on.

First Lieutenant Patita said the officer was sounding his siren and turning it off as he approached the intersection before hitting the passenger side of his car.

The collision caused the patrol vehicle to tip over while assembling the front of the other vehicle.

Both the officer and the woman in the other car were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police said the officer followed the department’s policy regarding lights and sirens in the incident.

No other injuries were reported, and the police are investigating who was at fault.
