Goldeneye’s Pierce Brosnan on the new James Bond actor: “I Don’t Care”

Once you get into the rare camp of being a former James Bond actor, you’ll find yourself with a list of questions to be asked for the rest of the time; “What do you think of the new Bond movie? What do you think of the new Bond actor? Who should be the new Bond actor?” Having played spy Ian Fleming for four movies in the ’90s and ‘2000s, Pierce Brosnan is one of the actors who has had a bunch of questions asked of him frequently and his last answer might be the last time he’ll give an answer. Speaking in an interview with GQ UK As for the profile, Brosnan was asked who should take over Bond now that Daniel Craig has hung up his coat, and his answer did not disappoint.

The Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies star responded, “Who should do that? I don’t care.” “It will be interesting to see who they get, who the guy will be. Whoever he is, I wish him well.” The outlet notes that Brosnan’s tone in this response “indicates that he may not have actually been that interesting”. Brosnan also offered a bit of a lack of response to his feelings in Daniel Craig’s latest movie, No Time to Die, adding, “I saw the last movie, and I saw Skyfall. I love Skyfall. I’m not too sure about the last… Daniel always gives from his heart. So brave, Very strong. But…” The sentence ends there.

Now that he’s out on the promotion circuit for his upcoming DC Comics movie Black Adam, where he plays classic hero Doctor Fate, there’s no doubt Brosnan will be living his Bond days through journalism for quite some time. In another video posted with GQ The actor broke down his most famous characters, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into his philosophy while playing James Bond.

Brosnan revealed, “For me, he was trying to walk the line between Roger (Moore) and Sean Connery, and not be shy about taking their job.” I was very fascinated by Sean Connery, whom I saw as an 11-year-old boy in Goldfinger. And I watched him transcend the heights of being Bond and create such an iconic character…and then Roger came along. So I took from both guys, really. I allowed myself the grace to be able to try and get the sense of humor that both men brought to the part.”

No official announcement about who will take on the role of James Bond has been confirmed yet, or even a timeline as to when such an announcement will be made. Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson recently confirmed that everyone who will star in the next part should be in it for a long time, at least 10 to 12 years of playing the role.
