Bellator 285: Benson Henderson vs. Peter Colelli Live Scores.
In front of his countrymen, Peter Queally might have the most noteworthy opponent of his MMA career, not to mention Bellator, when he faces former UFC Lightweight Champion and Bellator title contender Benson Henderson in the main event of Bellator 285.
Before the day’s card, Henderson recently fought at Bellator 273 in January, defeating Islam Mamedov by split decision. This was his first MMA win since defeating Myles Jury in September 2019, with a three-fight loser sliding to follow him.
Henderson, who jumped from the UFC to Bellator in 2016, has previously challenged for the Bellator lightweight and welterweight titles, losing both times to a decision.
Patrick “Pitbull” Freer quietly fought for the then-vacant Bellator Lightweight title at the Bellator 270 about a year ago, losing via TKO of the second round. Freire got an ounce of revenge on Queally in that fight, with Queally scoring the Doctor’s win by stopping over Pitbull’s earlier older brother.
The co-main event will see the Heavy Hitters battle as Yoel Romero takes on Melvin Manhoef.
This fight, which would be Romero’s third since jumping out of the UFC, was scheduled to occur in May at Bellator 280 before Manhoef was injured while trying to stop the heist. Instead, Romero scored a goal for Alex Polizzi in the actual second final of the third round.
Romero had an unsuccessful Bellator appearance against Phil Davis at Bellator 266, losing by a split decision.
This will mark Manhof’s first fight in Bellator MMA since Corey Anderson finished it at Bellator 251 in November 2020.
