“It happens all the time”

Chris Jericho has been the subject of praise in recent weeks. Along with Jon Moxley and Brian Danielson, Jericho is seen as the leader of the locker room after the turmoil that unfolded after Aew all out Press Conference. The veteran’s quiet demeanor for several decades throughout his part of the press, despite knowing that “some things just fell off” between CM Punk and The Elite backstage, was praised by several AEW roster members. As a third-party investigation unfolds into this situation, top stars such as MJF and AEW President Tony Khan have declined to comment on anything surrounding the names of CM Punk, Kenny Omega and Young Bucks.

While Jericho is also unable to offer his thoughts on the situation at this time, he confirmed in an interview GQ Backstage brawls are nothing new in the world of professional wrestling.

“Without going into details, it happens all the time,” Jericho said. “That’s one of the things about being there for as long as I have: You just recalibrate and focus on the positives and realize we have a great locker room, and a great group of guys and girls. I think we’ve re-established that.” [on TV the last few weeks]. We know this is a very special place, we are going to go there and we are going to kill it. This is what we did. It’s a reset and that’s exciting for everyone involved, including me. We will continue to build on it. That’s what you do. This is how you have longevity.”

Jericho continued to liken AEW’s current state of affairs to what is going on with professional sports teams.

“I bet the Edmonton Oilers were horrified when Wayne Gretzky left, and they won the Stanley Cup that year. That’s when someone leaves. Someone else steps up,” Jericho continued. “It’s the best thing about wrestling, professional sports, or even SNL. Adam Sandler left and all of a sudden Jason Sudeikis is the big name or whatever. So we won’t miss a thing. We’ll keep working and get bigger, better, and stronger than ever.”

It should be noted that Punk, Omega, and the Bucks are still under contract with AEW at the time of writing.
