An amazing new system update from Sony has arrived on the PlayStation 4 consoles. At this time, Sony as a company has pretty much started to move on from PS4 and focus more on PS5. And while that’s not much of a shock given that the PS5 is almost two years old, Sony hasn’t completely given up on the ones on the PS4 just yet and is still keeping the console updated with new firmware patches.
As of this week, Sony has pushed system update 10.01 to PS4 consoles around the world. The correction is not material by any means, and in fact, the details of what has been changed are not yet clear. Sony official Correction notes For update 10.01 only, “This system software update improves system performance.” While it’s not surprising to see patch notes like these, it does raise the question of why Sony felt the need to release this update in the first place.
Based on recent history, the answer to that question appears to lie in the 10.00 patch, which was released on PS4 earlier in September. After this firmware update arrived, some PS4 users started experiencing strange issues. Specifically, it has been widely reported that DLC for many PS4 games no longer appears on console even though it was installed prior to the release of patch 10.00. And while this DLC hasn’t actually been removed, it looks like Sony may have noticed this flaw and is now looking to fix it with patch 10.01. Only time will tell if this proves to be accurate, but those in the PlayStation community will likely find out the details of this patch soon enough.
Did you notice any new improvements to PS4 after the 10.01 update was released? And are you still using your PS4, or have you completely moved to PS5? Make sure to tell me either in the comments or connect with me on social media at Trustworthy.
