Works by Vincent Van Gogh, Lucian Freud, Jasper Johns, Gustav Klimt, Georgia O’Keefe and other top artists have been revealed to be part of the billion-dollar collection from Microsoft founder Paul Allen that will be auctioned at Christie’s this fall.

News of Allen’s property being auctioned was first reported in August. The tech mogul, who died in 2018 at the age of 65, has been known to be cautious about his group. Details of Allen’s art holdings and where the collection will eventually end up have long been a mystery. Now, Christie’s has revealed the best works that will sell as part of the Allen Collection’s 150 works collection in November.

In what is the highest sale value for a single owner group ever auctioned, the works will be sold across multiple New York sales taking place on November 9 and November 10. Proceeds from the auctions will go to charitable efforts led by a foundation that Allen founded during his lifetime. The collection is sold by Allen’s property outlet, his sister Judy Allen.

Among the valuable works to be auctioned will be a collection of works by Old Masters to contemporary and contemporary artists. Two works were produced in 1888: Georges Seurat Lee Busuz, Ensemble (small version)a pictorial scene in the artist’s signature Pointillist style, and a grove landscape scene titled Verger avec cypres By Vincent Van Gogh, each of them is estimated to bring in over $100 million.

Gustav Klimt birch forest From 1903, a landscape comprising a forested area covered with orange leaves once owned by Adele and Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer, is one of the high-value works, estimated at more than $90 million. Allen paid $40 million for it in 2006. A Lavender River View by Claude Monet, Waterloo Bridge, Soleil Voile (1899–1903), expected to fetch in excess of $60 million. Also on the show is Lucian Freud large interior W11 (After Watteau), 1981 to 1983, holds an estimate of over $75 million.

Other works by Paul Signac, Francis Bacon, and J. M. W. Turner Venice have been valued at over $20 million.

Among the works of more modest appreciation are sculptures, multimedia pieces, and paintings produced by Louise Bourgeois, Jasper Johns, Georgia O’Keefe, and Jan Brueghel the Younger. The business is expected to sell for between $1.5 million and $8 million. Other products from the likes of Rene Magritte and Agnes Martin will also be sold.
