Wainwright and Molina had the best reaction to Albert Pujols’ 700th race at home

Adam Wainwright and Yadir Molina had a big reaction to Albert Pujols’ 700th race at home on a historic night in Los Angeles.

She just had to come up against the dodgers.

Pujols made history, finishing 699th and 700th in Los Angeles, the place where he learned to love the game again, as he announced in his post-game press conference.

The Cardinals were in an offensive slump heading into the series. Pujols, at least, is doing his part to get them out of her. His teammates appreciate that fact, and Pujols’ two home runs on Friday night led to an 11-0 win over the best team in the National League.

After Pujols’ 700th home race, his old teammates had a little fun at his expense.

Cardinal legends celebrate Albert Pujols’ 700th home race

Wainwright and Molina have played with the Pujols for over a decade.

“It’s very special,” Pujols said. “When it really will hit me is when I’m done, at the end of the season, when I’m retired, maybe a moment or two after that I can look at the numbers.”

Pujols isn’t a huge record guy – he doesn’t stand in the club, stare at his numbers, and wait for another name to be crossed off his home playlist. But 700 is undeniable, something he could take with him to the Hall of Fame and beyond.

“Look, don’t get me wrong, I know my place in this game. But from day one, when I started debuting, it was never about numbers, it was never about numbers. It was always about winning trophies and trying to get better in this game. And it was I have a lot of people who taught me the right way early in my career, and that’s what I carried over the 22 years until I was in the major leagues. That’s why I don’t really focus on numbers. I will one day, but not now,” Bogoles said.

That day is coming. When Cardinals’ season ends, whether it be disappointments or scraps of paper, Pujols will have a chance to meditate with the rest of us.
