For a long time, Gwyneth Paltrow has been mainly known to the public as an actress, with her notable credits including SevenAnd the Shakespeare in love And the The talented Mr. Ripley. Though, these days Paltrow has retired from acting and is focusing on running her own brand/goop wellness and lifestyle brand, which has skyrocketed in popularity over the past decade. However, with this increased profile came more claims that Goop’s health recommendations are “false science,” which Paltrow has recently taken some time to address.

Gwyneth launched Paltrow Goop in 2008, the same year she debuted as Pepper Potts Iron ManNow, the company’s business volume is $250 million. However, Goops has been criticized over the years by many doctors and scientists for championing products and methods that are not scientifically proven. This is what Paltrow said CBS News After being asked what people should have accused her of promoting pseudoscience:

I honestly don’t understand where that comes from, because we don’t. We haven’t done that before. I mean, especially when we started, there were many approaches and ways to achieve wellness that didn’t have scientific backing, but worked in India thousands of years ago, or worked in China. So, I think it was, say, a way to take pictures of us. But nothing to talk about seems so strange.
