Houston crime: David Evaristo Acosta accused of killing brother during fight about moving car in the Heights, HPD says!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A 22-year-old man accused of shooting and killing his brother during a “bullshit” fight in the Heights on Sunday has been charged with murder.

According to Houston police, 22-year-old David Evaristo Acosta and his 24-year-old brother got into a verbal argument at a home on 1400th Street in Oxford Street around 8:30 a.m.

Reportedly, Acosta took out a rifle during the fight and shot his brother several times. The man’s death was later announced.

Family members told the police that the two brothers had an ongoing history of domestic violence towards each other.

“Things escalated this morning because of the bullshit, I’d call it. Because their vehicles were moving, resulting in one of the brothers being shot,” HPD Det. Alexander Vinogradov said.

The suspect fled after the shooting, but officers saw his car a short time later after he called to turn himself in, the Department of Public Health said.

He was arrested without further incident.

Investigators said the two brothers were living in the house.

Police did not release the identity of the 24-year-old who was killed.
