Apple News users receive an abusive notification in the event of a potential hack

Apple News users received a push notification that included racial slur and other offensive language, possibly as a result of the hack. Hacking is a huge problem in today’s modern and highly interconnected world. While many companies do their best to protect themselves from malicious actors. Last week, one of the largest and most secret game developers, Rockstar Games, was hacked. This resulted in approximately an hour Grand Theft Auto VI Online gameplay has been leaked, revealing new information about the story, setting, gameplay, and more. The intruder was reportedly arrested, but the police only confirmed that they had arrested one of the intruders, but not what they might have hacked into.

It looks like another hack has occurred and this time, it’s displaying an incredibly gross message on people’s devices. as such mentioned by detour, a group of Apple News users took to social media on September 27 to report a push notification sent from Fast Company, a business magazine focused on technology, business and design. The immediate notice included an offensive message with racial insult and sexually charged obscene language. End with “THRAX WAS HERE”. It is unclear who Thrax is, but it appears to be the result of a hack. The same message was sent twice and Fast Company has yet to address the matter on their social media. It’s also unclear if this was a direct hack of Apple News or Fast Company specifically.

These types of hacks are not uncommon and seem unlikely to go unpunished given how seriously everyone involved is taking these matters. Only time will tell what will happen and we will continue to let you know if Apple or Fast Company releases any kind of data on the matter. This issue is certainly annoying and many social media users are publicly expressing their frustration, even tagging Apple and Fast Company in an effort to get some sort of answer from the two companies.
