New Star Trek movie removed from Paramount’s release calendar

Well, it looks like Star Trek Fans will have to wait longer than expected to see the fourth movie in Chris Pine’s movie franchise. Pine and most of the main cast from the Kelvin films are aboard the fourth installment, which was supposed to hit theaters in 2023. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case. Paramount chose to take the new Star Trek Completely off the calendar.

On Tuesday, Paramount was officially removed Star Trek 4 from its release calendar. The film was initially scheduled to reach theaters on June 9, 2023, before being delayed until December 22 of the same year. Now, the movie is on the shelf for the foreseeable future.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given that the new Star Trek just lost its director. WandaVision And the Game of thrones Director Matt Shukman was originally chosen to lead the project, but recently left in order to direct The Fantastic Four For Marvel Studios. The search is now underway for an alternative. The script was written by Lindsey Beer and Jennifer Robertson-Durrett.

“Matt Shukman is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and we regret that the timing did not align with him to direct the upcoming Star Trek movie,” Paramount Pictures said in a statement following Shucman’s departure. “We are grateful for his many contributions, and we are excited about the creative vision for this next chapter and look forward to bringing it to audiences around the world.”

While there is no director in place for the next Star Trek movie at this moment, the big-screen future of the franchise remains a focal point for Paramount.

“Going forward, I’m focused on our franchises,” Brian Robbins, president of Paramount Pictures, told Variety earlier this year. “We are fortunate to have amazing perks, which we need to rely on. We have adult perks like Mission: Impossible, Quiet Place, Transformers And the Star Trek. And we have family privileges with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles And the SpongeBob. You must have multi-year plans for these perks. You can’t just make a movie, see how it works, and then decide to make another one, because if you did, it would take years between sequels. Likes My voiceWe’ll take a separate character Knuckles and make a miniseries on Paramount +, which will take us to Part Three My voice A movie with a lot of Easter eggs. That layout is what I focus on, as well as filling the list with filmmakers we’re excited about for those who want to tell the stories they are passionate about. This allows us to give the green light for things like the new movie we have from Matt Stone and Trey Parker, The South Park You guys, who are working on a movie with Kendrick Lamar in the elusive, could break into the zeitgeist.”
