Intel Arc A750 Graphics Card Launched October 12th for $289

For those still skeptical about actually launching it, Intel is ready to go. After the recent revelation of the Intel Arc A770 graphics card launching at $329, there is follow-up news about its brother. The Arc A750 will join the A770 which launches on October 12 and will cost $289.

Furthermore, Intel has clarified that a $329 price tag will be attached to the 8GB version of the A770. The company’s limited edition 16GB card will cost more, but not much more. This device will cost $349 and will also be available from October 12th. There’s no word yet on the price of the Arc A580, but we’ve been told to expect it in due course.

The price tag tells you which segment of the GPU market this first round of high-quality Arc cards will target, but Intel takes how much these things cost very seriously.

Market reset

During its most recent press conference, Intel talked about “resetting the market” when it comes to GPU pricing. This technology, she says, is getting more expensive, and Intel is the last big company that can really do anything about it. As such, Intel is doing everything it can to try to bring prices down again. Whether it works well will only tell time, but it’s refreshing to hear the Nvidia CEO happily declaring the death of Moore’s Law while rolling out his $1,500 graphics cards.

Of course, the Arc A770 and A750 weren’t designed to compete with Nvidia’s high-end GPUs, not even AMDs. It started from the bottom up, which honestly makes perfect sense. Look at the most used GPUs on Steam and you’ll see it’s clear as the day when gamers are still using mid-tier cards in droves. That Intel is pushing a 16GB card for $349 in and of itself is pretty impressive.

Until we have it on hand for testing, we only have Intel’s data to follow. But we were told to expect RTX 3060-ish performance from both but at a lower price. The performance-to-dollar ratio is something Intel takes pride in, claiming it’s 53% better over the A750 and 42% better over the more expensive A770.

Arc is real and coming soon

There are those who didn’t think these GPUs would ever see the light of day, and recent rumors about the future of Intel’s graphics department have done nothing to improve it. But these are very real products that will be sold to real people very soon.

Those who buy the A770 or the A750 will also get some free games to play on, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Gotham Knights. Arc is clearly designed to work in tandem with XeSS, Intel’s artificial intelligence upgrading technology, but it’s not a necessity. The first XeSS game is already here, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider recently saw it. You can try it on your existing GPU.

Perhaps most interestingly, Intel hinted that no device has ever been released. In response to a question about why the two GPUs are rated at 225W, there was an indication that there was still more to unlock. It has high horsepower, and there seems to be room for future improvements through driver updates. Who knows what that means but at least for now, it looks like Intel is behind its new hardware.

Partner cards may start showing up around the October launch date, and third-party A770 cards are expected to be 8GB. Intel won’t be drawn on any other details, so it will be interesting to see what comes out.
