Edgerunners Episode VI is a master storytelling lesson

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been an unmistakable success for Netflix, as the animated series by Studio TRIGGER takes fans to Night City via its protagonist, David Martinez. Over the course of the 10 episodes, fans have come to know David through his trials and tribulations, although perhaps there was no harder part of the sixth edition, which not only gives us Martinez in his lows but also follows the agony of an electronic psychosis known as Maine. In weaving this tragic tale, episode six becomes a major storytelling lesson.

While the series had already had a Maine crew member die in a previous episode, this episode felt like the real one where Edgerunners could venture into an area where anything could happen. Min, as a character, felt more like Barret than Final Fantasy VII, keeping the mercenary crew together while also proving to be a physical force when it came to tearing apart mechanical opponents. In this episode we see the flaws that haunt Maine, as his desire for protection comes at a bitter cost.

big element of Cyberpunk 2077 The world is that when too much technology is slapped on a person, they run the risk of entering a state of “electronic psychosis,” in which their memories become mistaken with the events of the present and allies can be mistaken for enemies. While David may be the star of the series, Maine is allowed to shine here where viewers can see his past and from brief glimpses, form their own story about how a mercenary commander became the technological juggernaut he is now known as. Maine didn’t look much different from David in flashbacks, although he did appear as if he was more willing to rely on his humanity rather than the technology he now provides, which makes his fate all the more ironic.

Of course, a big element of this episode is the action, and it’s fast and repetitive as Maine and his crew find themselves trying to escape the trauma team hunting for the high-ranking executive they kidnapped. As the bullets fly, Maine is unable to maintain his sanity, losing Dorio in the process and unleashing a wave of destruction that almost made viewers feel bad for his assailants.

In Death of Maine, we can see David in his lows and perhaps his clearest form, as the fast young man uses his technique to tragically witness the death of his mentor but ultimately finds himself unable to do anything in the face of it. Screaming in the face of Maine’s death, David was able to walk out holding his mentor’s arm on the path to becoming the head of a mercenary unit, for good and for evil.

From start to finish, episode six of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners It tells a complete and tragic story that examines the lives of its heroes, while also showing the true tragedy of their story within the confines of Night City.
