Splatoon 3 update released, patch notes revealed

Nintendo released a new version Splatoon 3 An update that fixes a huge number of issues and bugs. Perhaps most importantly, after this latest patch there should be fewer connection errors and anyone who had trouble getting Super Sea Snails from the first official Splatfest should now be able to grab them. These are just two of several fixes for Splatoon 3 that are included in the patch notes.

In general, the Splatoon 3 The patch includes changes to connectivity, player controls, multiplayer, and more. The patch notes also indicate that Nintendo is actively monitoring whether players are harassing others or exploiting bugs. It states that the company is “taking active action” against these players, including “suspending online play”.

Changes in contact

  • Additional measures have been implemented to reduce the frequency of communication errors after battles and job shifts.

Changes to player controls

  • Fixed an issue where players using duos would stop attacking and enter the swim model at the end of a Dodge Roll regardless of whether they held the ZR button.
  • Fixed a Drop Roller gear ability issue where a player would enter into a swim model at the end of their Drop Roll if they held down the ZR button while holding the ZL button during the Drop Roll, regardless of whether they were holding the ZR button.
  • Fixed an issue in splatanas that caused players to perform two consecutive horizontal slashes after a charged slash even if they press the ZR button only once.

Changes to Multiplayer

  • Fixed an issue where players would not take damage for a certain period of time after breaking the Booyah Bomb’s shield.
  • Measures have been implemented to prevent issues where players might get stuck in the terrain when switching from swimming form to human form near a tactic cooler placed in the corner of certain maps.

Other changes

  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash when the player finished editing their locker with a photo stand placed in the locker.
  • Fixed an issue with receiving a new catalog after reaching catalog level 100, where a connection error would occur or a game crash could cause the catalog receipt event to not trigger.

(In cases where this issue has already occurred, the catalog receipt event will be triggered again once the player restarts the program and enters Hotlantis.)

  • Fixed an issue with Super Sea Snails. If you cannot receive Super Sea Snails from the first Splatfest, news of the final results will be rebroadcast and you will now be able to collect Super Sea Snails.

Since this update patch focuses on additional fixes for connectivity issues and fixes for some control and battle related issues, we’ve prioritized its release.

We have identified an issue where communications with the server are cut off during a battle or shift due to settings on the player’s network equipment and Internet provider.

We’ve implemented measures to minimize communication outages and reduce subsequent errors after a fight or work shift even in the event of an outage.

In addition, we have implemented temporary fixes regarding some issues affecting the feel and feedback of the controls while playing.

In the case of a cross-terrain truncation problem when using Tacticooler, we decided it was important to issue a quick fix that mitigates the problem rather than waiting for a “perfect solution”.

Furthermore, if players are found to be harassing other players or otherwise violating Nintendo Community Guidelines by intentionally exploiting game bugs, we take effective measures including suspending online play.

The next patch will focus mainly on balance adjustments and other issues that were outside the scope of the current patch.

We continue to monitor and analyze battle data and plan to make further adjustments around the middle of the current season.
