Twitter posts first edited tweet

Twitter has revealed what its modified tweets will look like after years of users asking for the feature. Twitter is one of the most popular social media applications. It is a fast and constant flow of information, jokes, news and updates about different things around the world. It’s incredibly attractive, but despite its massive user base and over a decade of existence, it also misses some key features from other platforms. Both Instagram and Facebook allow you to edit your posts right after you publish them with Facebook even including the edit history to see what has changed. Since Instagram’s re-share feature is limited to 24-hour stories, it doesn’t matter if you have an edit history, but Facebook has implemented it so people can see what’s changed if the post goes viral.

For years, Twitter has opposed the idea of an edit feature for various reasons, but since founder Jack Dorsey left Twitter, there have been some changes. It’s been confirmed that Twitter has been testing modified tweets, but now, we’re getting our first real glimpse at one. Basically, you will see one tweet and it will have a hyperlink that notes if it has been edited. If you click on it, you can see previous edits and they will appear as individual tweets, more or less. They all have their own responses, likes/retweets, etc. Users will have 30 minutes to make edits to their tweets after they are posted, so that will largely be used to correct things like typos and the like.

It’s a rather interesting feature for the new feature, but the fact that it’s being rolled out to the public suggests that it will start rolling it out for others to use very soon. Twitter Blue members will be able to take advantage of modified tweets when they are introduced, although it is unclear if they will ever be available to those who do not subscribe to the service. Either way, we now know what to expect from the new and long-wanted Twitter feature.
