Houston, Texas (KTRK) – The Houston Police Department has confirmed the death of a 2-year-old boy in a hit-and-run accident in southwest Houston.
The accident occurred at 8400 block of Nerns Street near Gesner Road.
According to eyewitnesses, a man driving a truck traveling at high speed allegedly hit the two-year-old boy, according to HPD.
The driver tried to escape, but nearby neighbors were able to stop and hold him until the officers arrived, police said.
According to HPD, the suspect in the case is 22 years old.
Officials evaluate to determine if alcohol is a contributing factor.
This fatal accident was one of two incidents that occurred on Saturday involving a car and the death of a young child.
