New England Patriots fans mockingly compared rising quarterback Billy Zappy to Tom Brady after making his week four debut.
The New England Patriots entered week four without starting quarterback Mac Jones, having sprained his ankle the week before. That means veteran Brian Hoyer will start the Patriots on the road against the Green Bay Packers. However, Hoyer left the match in the first half due to a head injury, and was soon disqualified for the remainder of the match.
With Jones and Hoyer inactive, this meant the Patriots had to rely on rookie Billy Zappy, the team’s pick in the fourth round of Western Kentucky.
This led to Twitter users making comparisons between Zappe and former Patriots player Tom Brady, who famously stepped in to relieve Drew Bledsoe’s injury, and never gave up the starting role.

Before being selected by the Patriots, Zappe set the FBS record for passing yards and touchdowns while playing for the Hilltoppers last season. Zappe threw for 5,967 yards and 62 touchdowns.
In the first inning, Zappe completed 6 of 10 pass attempts for a total of 31 yards.
Although Zappy did not lead the team into the end zone before the break, the New England defense did. Late in the second quarter, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers attempted to complete a pass for Allen Lazard along the sidelines. Instead, corner player Jack Jones read the play, intercepted the pass, and put it back down to give the Patriots a 10-7 lead.
However, Zappe threw his first touchdown pass, calling DeVante Parker for 25 yards.
This will definitely be a moment Zappe will never forget – helping the Patriots take the lead over the Packers at Lambeau Field.
