There is no character in Dragon House He spends more time planning or observing than Ser Larys Strong. The man that some in the world call “Clubfoot” runs in the shade all season long, choosing to watch what others are doing and make moves that not many are familiar with. Over the past two weeks, fans have learned just how dangerous Larize actually is, as it was revealed that his father and brother had been murdered in an attempt to help Queen Aliscent, as well as bolster his inheritance. We know the lengths Larize will go to get things done, but we still know very little about why he does the things he does. This is very intentional.
Matthew Needham, who plays Larrys Dragon HouseI spoke to him recently EW About his character that most fans remember Game of thrones Characters like Littlefinger and Varys. Needham doesn’t like revealing much about Larrys, because the mystery surrounding the character is part of what makes him so cool.
“It’s tricky because the fun parts I find about this character – in the books, anyway – are his mystery box item, where I’m not quite sure why he does what he does,” Needham explained. “That’s why it makes interviews so difficult, because I like to keep the slight ambiguity box side of it. If I start explaining things away, it suddenly becomes less interesting. But this was something I’ve always been interested in: the out-of-focus guy, Then he slowly started to focus. I don’t know if he’s fully in focus yet.”
Needham was also asked about Larys’ goals throughout the series. It started out as someone hanging out in the background, and it seemed like he rose to power as soon as there was a chance. Did he always have a plan, or was he just too pushy?
“I think he has a plan,” Needham said. “I think he has a direction.” “I think you can’t just be mysterious for the sake of mystery, just hanging around smoking with nowhere to go. That would be awful. No, I think he has something to try to achieve. They created this amazing character, this is a man who acts in the world and makes things happen. He spoke though he couldn’t seem to hurt a fly. I think he knew where he wanted to go. I think he had plans, and he had, well, all his life to get out for them. So he’s ready.”
