Leawood hit-and-run: Pedro Alberto Hernandez, 52,charged with murder after running over 6-year-old 3 times, records say!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Officials say a 6-year-old was killed after a man ran over him three times and told police he had been drinking on Saturday evening.

Pedro Alberto Hernandez, 52, is charged with murder and a third DWI crime.

According to records, in Building 9700 of Leawood Boulevard, the boy was with his grandfather walking through a parking lot when he was injured.

Grandpa yelled at Hernandez, who then allegedly stopped the child, held it back up, and then ran over the child again, causing one of the tires to rest on the child’s face, as noted in the records.

The grandfather continued to scream, and accused Hernandez again of running over the child for the third time.

The boy’s grandfather told the police that Hernandez reportedly smiled at him and tried to drive. Grandpa pulled Hernandez from his car and hung him over the hood until other witnesses held Hernandez until the police arrived.

According to police, Hernandez admitted to drinking four 16-ounce beers while standing at work before driving to a laundromat where he met someone who owed him money.

It wouldn’t be the first time Hernandez has been accused of drinking and driving.

Records show he was convicted of drunk driving in Harris County in 2015, DWI in Friston County in 2016, and also convicted of DWI in Fort Bend County in 2020.

He is still serving a 5-year probationary period for his 2020 DWI conviction.

Hernandez appeared in the Court of Possible Causes on Sunday, where a judge set a total bail of $600,000 for both counts.
