The official Black Panther 2 movie, also known as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the trailer is here and has fueled speculation about the identity of the new Black Panther. Because while the latest trailer showed us a crouching black panther, with its claws extended, this new trailer lets us see the new black panther from the front.
This trailer for the upcoming Marvel movie, released today (October 3) with tickets for the November 11 movie on sale, begins with Wakanda in mourning. Then, as we see footage of an attack on a naval ship, M’Baku (Winston Duke) is seen talking about Namor the Submariner (Tenoch Huerta, whose character hasn’t been explicitly named yet), saying that his people are calling him. His name is the feathered serpent god Kukulkan.
And Mbaku seems to be against going to war with Namur, because “to kill him would risk an eternal war.” Then Schori (Leetitia Wright) replies, stating that this is the necessary thing, because this new enemy is “coming to the superficial world.”
But since we all know the big story of Black Panther 2 is about the line of succession to Wakanda’s greatest warrior, the trailer jumps to Ramonda (Angela Bassett) talking about how Wakanda lost her protector. Then, in rapid fire, we see Namur attacking Wakanda, iron core Riri Williams (Dominic Thorne) working hard and in the sky, and then the new Black Panther jumping off a high ground and standing up. This is how they look:
Analysis: It’s Shuri, isn’t it?
So, looking at the black panther’s armor, we feel that the new black panther is probably a shuri. Just like this shot “from the back” in a teaser trailer, her body type suits her much more than a Nakia Lupita Nyong’o or even Okoye from Danai Gurira.
The trailer doesn’t give you a lot of reason to believe it’s anyone in particular, except for Shuri’s dialogue. Her apparent insistence that Wakanda must not let Namor’s attacks pass unabated indicates that she is taking a leading role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The white markings on the top of the new Black Panther mask indicate that it is from Shuri, as those markings were on her face earlier in the trailer.
Shuri has been our best guess for the new Black Panther for a while, though it was once speculated that Wright wouldn’t be in the movie. story in The Hollywood Reporter (Opens in a new tab) She confirmed Letitia Wright’s role in the movie after rumors spread that her role is in danger due to She reported her reluctance to get the Covid-19 vaccine (Opens in a new tab).
