Watch Barry Keoghan’s Riddler audition for The Batman

Batman He made the infamous decision to include The Joker in his new vision of the world of Batman and his legends. Director Matt Reeves had originally envisioned a scenario in which the Joker would be Hannibal Lecter to Batman Clarice Starling – an imprisoned serial killer who advises a less experienced detective on how to catch a killer still at large. The Batman version of the Joker was played by Marvel’s Eternals star Barry Keoghan, who originally went to audition for the role of The Riddler (which eventually went to actor Paul Dano).

DC fans received a bonus soon after Batman Release: Matt Reeves, Warner Bros. expanding the Joker’s (largely invisible) young cameo at the end of The Batman by releasing the completely deleted scene of Barry Keoghan as the Joker, in Silence of the LambsBatman-style interrogation. Well, now we’re getting a second treat from The Batman, in the form of a video of Barry Keoghan doing an audition to play the Riddler!

As you can see in the video above, Barry Keoghan obviously went with more orange orange Phoebe to confront him in The Riddler. It certainly evokes the spirit of Malcolm McDowell’s “Alex” from Stanley Kubrick’s 1971 dystopian crime thriller — an unprecedented tribute by the Kubrickian Orchestra. The twist in the video is the seemingly innocuous and even giddy ‘Riddler’ back from the corner with blood on his right cheek.

There are two things that Barry Keoghan’s test for Riddler makes clear:

  1. Why didn’t Matt Reeves cast Keoghan as Riddler. The dark noir version of Batman that Matt Reeves wants to make definitely needs a Riddler more Se7en From orange orange.
  2. Why did Matt Reeves choose to keep Barry Keoghan as the Joker? The crazy smile he flashed at the end of the test video, with blood smeared on his face, definitely made him look more like a classic depiction of the Joker from Batman comics, than the Riddler.

The Batman version of the Joker has been dubbed the “Proto Joker,” an early form of a sadistic villain before he truly adopted the play created by Batman’s presence in Gotham City. It doesn’t look like Warner Bros. Barry Keoghan committed to keeping the role after that Batman – But that does not prevent the actor from filming his shot to return as the Joker Batman 2 The TV series Arkham Asylum, or whatever else the studio had planned.
