An interview with vampire star Sam Reed about the “fun” of playing Lestat, bringing the lovable character Anne Rice back to life

AMC’s Interview with the vampire Finally here it brings to the small screen the eagerly awaited adaptation of the popular Gothic horror novel of the same name and gives fans a fresh look at the source material as well as one of the most beloved characters – the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt. Played by Sam Reid in the series, Lestat isn’t the titular vampire being interviewed (it would be Louis de Points du Lac, played by Jacob Anderson), but he is a much larger-than-life character and someone who has a major role in the rest of the books in the Rice series vampires. And for Reid, playing Lestat has proven to be the most fun thing to do.

talk with ComicBook.comReid talked about how much fun he had playing Lestat, especially because of the lines he’d say in the series — lines that were lifted straight out of Rice’s prose.

“It really is the most fun thing,” Reid said. “I can’t tell you.” “It’s so fun because it’s such a complex character. And it’s like the gift, the dialogue we say is extraordinary. And it’s so fun to play this character, and in this world, to say Anne Rice’s direct lines. It’s unbelievable, because when you read it, it’s so different. About the sound of it in your mouth, I mean how it sounds wrong in your head when you have to put the words in your mouth and actually go, ‘Holy sh-t, these guys talk like him.’ Because there are a lot of exclamation points and there is a lot of love. There are a lot of intense emotions in the book that when translated, remain extreme, but you also have to put them into a sense of reality as well, which is kind of a minefield to navigate. So, it’s really fun. Canines are fun, contact lenses are fun, and all is well. “

Reed previously told us that he is also a fan of Rice’s books and that for him, it’s a great privilege to be a part of this new mod.

“Very familiar,” Reid said. “Big fan of books, big fan.” “When I read that it was going to be made into a TV show, I was really hoping that I’d have the opportunity to audition. So yeah, there’s tremendous pressure because you feel that pressure to make sure you live up to the character in the world that you love so much. I mean, there’s a huge amount of The pressure because they loved these books and this world you created but also the pressure you put on yourself to rise to it too is full. But what an extraordinary opportunity, gift, and privilege to be able to be a part of it.”

Interview with the vampire It stars Sam Reed as Lestat de Lioncourt, Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Bailey Bass as Claudia, and Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy. The series also stars Kalin Coleman as Grace, Christian Robinson as Levi, Asaad Zaman as Rasheed, and Maura Grace Athari as Antoinette.

Interview with the vampire It airs on Sundays on AMC and AMC+.
