Banijay revealed an environmentally friendly stand before 2022 at the Mipcom market in Cannes.
Conveniently located in front of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, the two-storey structure – a reusable timber building – consists of more than 500 square meters of floor space including meeting rooms, reception area, several terraces and hospitality areas.
Created by Romain Larue of Orati and designed by architect Nicola Spinetto, the construction uses Cross Laminated Timber – a technology known for its strength, versatility and sustainability.
The construction will improve brightness throughout the central patio area and terraces and will be home to Banijay’s 250+ Mipcom team.
All panels are flat packed with minimal trucking required to transport the construction. To complement the ecological theme, the pavilion will feature plants sourced from local nurseries, program and merchandise catalogs can be recycled for customers, and after market, the stand will be stored less than 50 kilometers from Cannes.
Banijay will have an expanded market presence at Mipcom, after a three-year hiatus. Highlights of the company’s downfall list include “Starstruck,” “Blow Up,” “Love Triangle,” “Le Plus Grand Karaoké de France,” “MasterChef: Young Talent,” and Banijay Rights-fronted with text titles: “Marie Antoinette,” Rogue Heroes, Bali 2002, and Serial Lover.
Cathy Payne, CEO of Banijay Rights, the global distribution arm of Banijay, said: “It’s been three years since I offered Banijay in Mipcom and our first major market since the acquisition of Endemol Shine, so we felt it was important to present ourselves in a very prominent way. This truly groundbreaking and eco-friendly project is Banijay’s commitment to sustainability, and re-enforces our mission to reduce our carbon footprint and overall impact on the environment.
“It’s the perfect engine room for our huge team that will reach Mipcpm 2022 as one of the world’s largest producers and distributors of television content,” Payne added.
Mipcom takes place from October 17-20.
