House of the Dragon BTS feature puts dragons in the spotlight

HBO’s Dragon House He really started to live up to his name. Dragons have been present in the series since the first episode, but their importance was taken to another level with the last episode. Driftmark saw Aemond Targaryen’s association with Vhagar, the late Laena Velaryon’s dragon and one of the three original dragons who helped conquer the Seven Kingdoms. The Aemond and Vhagar connection has huge implications for the entire House of the Dragon story, so this week was a good time for the show’s creative team to provide some additional information about the dragons we see on screen.

After the last episode, HBO released a new feature, “The Age of Dragons,” that delves into the massive creatures that have appeared on the show. Dragon House. You can check out the full feature in the video below.

The creative team talks about a few notable dragons throughout the video, including Syrax, the dragon associated with Princess Rhaenyra. Contrary to the bond between Aemond and Vhagar, Rhaenyra and Syrax have been together for years, with the latter appearing when the former was very young. This made their bond much deeper than that of a knight with a dragon that had gone through multiple bonds.

“Syrax was born to Rhinera when she was a baby,” Condall explained. “I think the dragons born to her riders have a deeper bond in common than any other dragons.” He went on to say that Syrax was built like a bird of prey, comparing it to an eagle that “built for speed.”

George R. Martin, who wrote A song about snow and fire And creating the entire series, they spent some time talking about Vhagar, the dragon of the clock. He explains that Aemond’s association with Vhagar is an act that “actually fuels hatred between the two branches of the family even more”.

As for Vhagar herself, Martin puts some emphasis on how big the dragon actually is. “Vhagar is so big that it doesn’t fit anywhere anymore,” he says in the video. “Not even in the Dragonpit. And that created a character a little taller in her. And she’s so pissed off.”

With only three more episodes left in the first season of Dragon HouseThere’s a good chance these giant monsters will play an even bigger role below the house extension.
