The first trailer for Super Mario Bros. has been revealed

During today’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment released the first trailer for the upcoming animated game Super Mario Bros. As expected, the teaser gives viewers their first look at the movie’s animation style, but little gets in the way of the movie’s plot. Of course, the biggest reveal of the trailer is Chris Pratt’s voice as the Nintendo Mustache mascot, which sounds somewhat similar to Mario’s voice from Super Mario Bros.. The movie now has an official title: The Super Mario Bros movie.

After more than two decades of hearing Mario’s voice exclusively by Charles Martinet, it’s kind of annoying to hear a different voice coming out of his mouth! Pratt’s role in the movie was controversial to say the least, but during the Nintendo Direct, Pratt reiterated his longstanding passion for Mario. It will definitely be fun to see if the humor wins over the fans. Martinet’s voice will still be heard in the film, and the actor will continue to voice Mario in future video games. He will be joined by Pratt and Martinet in the film Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowzer), Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong), Keegan-Michael Key (Todd), Fred Armisen (Eccentric Kong) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Camic) and Sebastian Maniscalco (Spike).

During Direct, Illumination revealed that the animation will be out next week, so it looks like the movie is a long way off at this point! lighting Super Mario Bros. The movie isn’t the first time a video game icon has appeared on the big screen. A live Mario movie was released in theaters in 1993, with Mario and Luigi played by Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo, respectively, and Dennis Hopper as the bowser. While the movie has garnered something of a denomination following over the past 29 years, it has been a box office bombshell. The film had very little in common with the actual source material, and Nintendo has avoided theatrical adaptations ever since.

It remains to be seen if Illumination will succeed where the previous Mario movie failed, but Nintendo is getting more experienced this time around, and the first teaser certainly looks promising. We’ll likely see a lot more of the movie over the next few months, but Super Mario Bros movie It will be released in theaters on April 7.
