Blue Jays lead 8-1 to Mariners and eliminated from postseason: Best memes, tweets

The Toronto Blue Jays led 8-1 in Game Two of the Wild Card Series against the Seattle Mariners, losing 10-9 to knock out the post-season.

The Toronto Blue Jays were closed down by the Seattle Mariners in Game 1 of the Wild Card series. With another loss, the Blue Jays season will come to an end, although the season is full of high hopes and countless additions made to the roster throughout the year.

Toronto looked to be in good shape, as they led 8-1 at the bottom of the fifth inning. However, somehow, the Blue Jays managed to blow up the lead, losing 10-9 to the Mariners. That’s right, a Seattle team that hasn’t made the playoffs in over 20 years has advanced in the ALDS to take on the Houston Astros.

Twitter reacts to Blue Jays’ epic loss to Mariners in postseason

Given the circumstances of their loss, the Blue Jays were the talk of Twitter. From Blue Jays fans who tweet all the time, to other fan bases mocking them for not having a single win this season.

Toronto managed to take the lead in the second half after Homer’s two-round run by Teoscar Hernandez, then only built until the fifth inning. But then the Mariners were able to start their comeback in the sixth inning after a wild ground thrown by Tim Meeza. Then, Carlos Santana hit a corner kick from three runs to reduce Seattle’s deficit to 8-5.

The Blue Jays extended their lead on the RBI single by Danny Janssen in the seventh inning. The Mariners responded in eighth with an RBI single by Cal Raleigh and a triple double by JP Crawford to tie things up.

At nine, the Mariners officially took the lead in the RBI double by Adam Frazier.

Seattle’s George Kirby shut things down, forcing Rimmel Tapia out of Seattle to secure the win and snatch the series.

The Blue Jays are now the second AL East team to be eliminated from the postseason on Saturday. The Tampa Bay Rays lost 1-0 to the Cleveland Guardians in the 15th inning at home solo by Oscar Gonzalez.

That wasn’t what Toronto sports fans needed to deal with. They have maple leaves to deal with, as they have had post-season struggles due to blown threads. Now, Blue Jays supplied them with seven-stroke bullets.
