You never quite know who might appear Saturday Night Live. Sometimes the host decides to go alone, sometimes he brings some famous friends to give support in a few sketches and increase the power of the stars. Last night’s host Brendan Gleeson decided to take the latter approach and enlisted friend and fellow Irishman Colin Farrell to appear. The famous actor made a surprise entry during Gleeson’s monologue and later appeared in another sketch to take a picture in his head.
Of course the audience was very excited to see Colin Farrell as he walked on stage. He got a nice round of applause, but after being there, it was really fun to watch him interact with Brendan Gleeson. The co-stars have a great chemistry together, and you can tell how much they value each other by the looks they give, which is even more prominent in the second graphic they were in together. Also, Colin Farrell had a mustache when it first came out, and I can’t comment on this ridiculous, eat your heart out, Tom Selleck.
If you will appear in Saturday Night Live, you have to enjoy it. Live show is always fast-paced Tons features From costume changes, wigs and other props to changing people’s appearance. If you have the opportunity to wear something ridiculous, take it. Even if it was only for twenty seconds or so.
In Gleeson’s case, the monologue also gave him the opportunity to showcase his musical talents. The famous actor brought out a mandolin during his opening speech, playing and singing quite a bit while addressing the audience. You can check it out, as well as Farrell’s debut below…
This wasn’t the only time Colin Farrell had appeared. He also had a more traditional comedy show in a bit about headshots. In one of the night’s strangest sketches, Brendan Gleeson played the grandfather of someone who had a head injury. He interrupts the session to drop Fedora, and soon the photographer, played by Andrew Desmocks, is intrigued.
The grandson was soon turned aside so the photographer could take pictures of Gleeson, who was posing in a variety of poses until he was joined by Colin Farrell, who played him. The two proceeded to snap a bunch of photos together, and it’s obvious how much fun they just had. Their chemistry, again, was really straightforward, and it was a pleasure to watch.
