Harris County murder-suicide: Man shoots ex-girlfriend before turning gun on himself at home on Rain Willow Court, deputies say!

Harris County, Texas (KTRK) – A 23-year-old woman was shot dead in her bedroom in southwest Harris County in what appeared to be a murder and suicide, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

According to MPs, on Sunday, the victim, whom the family identifies as Tamara Sawyer, was contacted by her ex-boyfriend on and off since high school.

“He called her earlier today, and then at about 3 p.m., he showed up, and he (Sawyer) let him in,” the HCSO’s sergeant said. Greg Pinkins said.

Family members said she lives at home at 4115 Rain Willow Court.

She was home with her current boyfriend and two other family members when her ex-boyfriend arrived, according to Sgt. Benkins.

According to officials, the family told MPs that Sawyer and her ex-boyfriend went to her room for 10 minutes before they heard gunshots.

“The other family members there heard three gunshots, and they went into the room and discovered she had a gunshot wound,” the sergeant said. Benkins said.

“He was still carrying a gun at the time.”

Then the ex-boyfriend was said to have shot himself as the family called 911, officials said.

Sawyers will remember her as the family’s baby, “a sweetheart who loves fashion and has always been on the right track.”

According to her family, Sawyer recently attended Community College in Houston to study Nursing, which was a passion of hers.

In September, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said about 35% of homicides in Harris County were related to domestic violence so far this year.

HCOS MPs said they were unaware of any history of violence between Sawyer and her ex-boyfriend.
