This week’s episode of Dragon House“Lord of the Tides,” follows the royal family’s reactions to the gravely wounded Lord Corlys Velaryon, “The Sea Snake” who sits on the Driftwood Throne in Driftmark. For six years, he’s been fighting in the Stepstones, the same area where he and Damon Targaryen previously fought against the Crabfeeder. While fighting the forces of the newly resurrected Triple Order, Corellis suffered this injury. As he survives the blow, he fears he will die of infection and fever, which leads to an internal political struggle over who will inherit his throne.

What happened to Corlys Velaryon in the books?
Dragon House Based on the book by George R. R. Martin fire and blood, which is the history of the Targaryen house. The book asserts that Corellis developed a fever at 126 degrees Celsius, which led to the succession battles seen in “Lord of the Tides,” but says nothing about his infection at the Stepstones.
As in the show, the fight is between the children of Rhaenyra and Vaemond Velaryon. In the books, Jacaerys, the largest of the Rheanyra family, must legally qualify for the Driftmark as the eldest offspring of the male Leanor Velaryon. However, he is bypassed as he is in line to inherit the first Dragonstone and then the Iron Throne. Rheanrya is said to have urged Corlys to name Lucerys, Jacaerys’ younger brother, as heir. Corlys willingly does this on the show.
Vaemond (Corlys’ brother in the show, but his nephew in the books) is angry and insists on his claim. Rhaenyra’s children are accused of being illegitimate and he is executed by Daemon Targaryen. His family flees to King’s Landing, where King Viserys orders them to be punished for repeating “lies” about the Rhaenyra children.
Does Corlys Velaryon live or die?

The schedule will likely change here. King Viserys died in the year 129 in the books. Since he’s already dead on the show, this schedule is likely to be tight.
What happens to Corlys Velaryon?
With the death of King Viserys, war will come to Westeros. The Targaryen Civil War called The Dance of Dragons between the Blacks (Rhaenyra faction) and the Greens (Alicent faction) will begin.
With Corlis’ descendants now betrothed to Rhinera’s children, House Philaerion is connected to the cause of the Blacks and Rhinera’s right to succession. Eventually, and under complicated circumstances, Rhinera Corellis Philaerion will name the Queen’s Hand.
