Despite winning 101 games this season, the Atlanta Braves have no choice but to figure out how to win one-day games.
For whatever reason, daytime games have been bugaboo all season. The Braves of the Day are constantly fighting the Braves of the Night to keep things interesting. Destiny will have it, they face the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS best of five. It’s always sunny in Philadelphia, especially when it comes to post-season baseball. Brave fans can’t believe what MLB has done to them here…

Atlanta Braves fans can’t believe MLB only gave them daytime games in the NLDS
To advance to the NLCS for the third consecutive October, the Braves must be Champions of the Sun.

- Game Two: Wednesday, October 12: 4:35 PM ET (Atlanta)
- Game 3: Friday, October 14: 4:37 p.m. ET (Philadelphia)

Let’s be real. This was very much expected. Four of the eight remaining MLB postseason teams play in the Western Divisions (Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners). As far as the other series is concerned, MLB would always make the New York Yankees a primetime priority whenever possible. New York faces the Cleveland Guardians.
No, it’s not like the Braves won’t pack Trust Park and The Battery during daily games. We should expect Philadelphia to do the same in Game 3, and maybe 4. Then again, these games will take place on Friday and Saturday. And if you go into a 5 winner-takes-all game, it will of course be the afternoon game in Atlanta when both teams have to fly the night before to play it…
Ultimately, MLB baseball is a television product and will try to space these games out as much as possible. Unfortunately, this puts teams that play in the eastern time zone at a disadvantage. While the Phillies have to play up to five daily games in a row as well, Atlanta has struggled significantly in games before sundown. The 2022 Braves have been the anti-Kirk Cousins this season.
If the Braves continue to sleepwalk, the season on the NL East Champions will be much earlier.
