Paul Dano has “no idea” if he’ll play The Riddler again

At CinemaCon back in April, Batman 2Sequel to Matt Reeves Batman The project was later announced and confirmed to be still taking place despite the changes at Warner Bros. Discovery. With the sequel on the horizon, there are already plenty of questions about where the next chapter in the story might take not only for Batman, but his opponents as well – especially when it comes to Paul Dano’s Riddler. As fans will remember, Batman Riddler, aka Edward Nashton, ended up being captured and put behind bars where he not only befriended another inmate but left the door open for the character’s potential return. However, as to whether Dano will return as the Riddler, that’s something even he’s not sure of. Dano said ComicBook.com In a recent interview, he said he “has no idea” if he’ll ever play the live-action character again.

He talks to us about his comic origin story coming from Riddler, The Riddler: Year OneDano explained that while the comic he wrote is largely his thing, it came from his job playing Riddler on screen and while he doesn’t know if he’ll ever get a chance to play the character again, whether it’s in Batman 2 Or anything else, he’s definitely open to it.

“So the essence of the comedy comes from the work I did to deliver the performance… I’m sure I’m going deeper into this than I ever have because of writing this comedy,” Dano said. “But the substance, and the emotional core to it is something I’ve already worked with. The comedian has grown into its own thing, but the substance comes from the work I did on the film. And I have no idea if you’ll ever play Riddler in live action again or not.” But like I said, I loved making it BatmanSo I think I’ll definitely do that.”

Dano also said he’s open to exploring the character’s future – especially after Nashton interacted with the Joker in Batman – But at this point, he didn’t think much about it.

“If they wanted there to be one, I would probably be there. But I didn’t really think much about it, and I find myself curious that I somehow spent more time with this character, because someone asked when we were doing Batman Press, “Did you take anything home from the set?” And I said no. from Edward. I was like, I don’t need anything from this guy in my house. Dano joked. And then, here I am, and I spent a year or two writing this comic and it was really, really, really good for the comic, because it’s a really good way to explore the inner monologue. Where the movie is, I think, the voiceover only applies to a certain degree. And this kind of show offers an opportunity to get into what someone like this sees, this kind of obsessive thinking, almost like the inner monologue captured during a comic. And so he didn’t direct much of my attention to his future. maybe one day “.

The Riddler: Year One #1, written by Dano with Art for Stefan Sobeck, goes on sale October 25. As for the Batman 2The film’s release date has not yet been set.
