Streaming device breaks in TwitchCon’s foam pit accident

Twitch streamer Adriana Chechik broke her back over the weekend during an incident at TwitchCon. Chechik made an impressive jump into a foam pit in the Lenovo Legion booth, but after landing, she was clearly in excruciating pain. The channel took to Twitter yesterday to reveal that she was on her way to have surgery to place a meter rod for support. in Another TweetChechik wondered why the Lenovo Legion encouraged people to jump into the hole “knowing that they had a rhinestone pad on the bottom”.

The incident was broadcast live on Twitch by Lenovo Legion, and the video was captured by streaming device Jake Lucky. The video can be found embedded below, but readers should be aware that it can be difficult to watch.

The Lenovo Legion received a lot of negative feedback on the foam pit via social media, and many Chechik fans also raised an issue with commentators, who seemed to belittle her injuries during the broadcast. Needless to say, the commentators likely weren’t aware of the severity of Sheshik’s injuries, and the comments certainly look worse later on. According to a statement provided by Lenovo KotakuThe foam pit has apparently been closed for the rest of TwitchCon, which ended on October 9. While this may prevent further injuries, it certainly does not help people like Chechik or others who were injured during the event.

In addition to Chechik, streamer LochVaness dislocated her knee and sprained her ankle after jumping into the hole. From Both videosThe hole appears to have been very shallow, which may have played a role in their injuries. Sheshik has already discussed filing a lawsuit over her injuries. When a Twitter user raised the possibility, Shishik agreed, noting that the company “has to do better before someone gets infected in the first place.” At this time, it’s not clear if Chechik plans to file a lawsuit against Twitch or Lenovo (or both) over her injuries.
