IFC Films buys North American rights to Cecilia Minucci’s ‘Life Upside Down’ starring Bob Odenkirk

IFC Films has acquired the North American rights to director Cecilia Miniucchi’s “Life Upside Down,” which stars Emmy Award-winning actor Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Radha Mitchell (“Pitch Black) and Danny Huston (“21 Grams”). The movie universe was first shown in Venice in the sidebar Giornate degli Autori.

IFC Films will release the film in select theaters and VODs on January 27 and will air exclusively on AMC+ in April 2023.

“Life Upside Down” is a romantic comedy that follows three couples, united by friendship, love and work, each stuck in their home in Los Angeles during the onset of the lockdown. They are finally forced to face their spouses, friends, lovers, and eventually themselves face to face, their lives slowly but surely turning upside down.

“Cecilia brings warmth and compassion to this universal story of love and growth in solitude we can all relate to,” said Ariana Bocco, President of IFC Films. “We are very excited to welcome the amazing talent Bob Odenkirk to the IFC Films family and bring this film next year to AMC+ subscribers who already know him well from Better Call Saul and are eagerly awaiting his next series, Straight Man,” Bocco continued.

Miniucci said she and her entire team “couldn’t be happier to collaborate with Ariana and IFC Films to bring ‘Life Upside Down’ to theaters.”

The film deal was negotiated by IFC Films with producer Rose Kuo, David Pierce of Pierce Law Group, and Tanya Shifman Esq. On behalf of the filmmakers.

“Life Upside Down” was produced by Jeffrey Coulter, Karl F Berg, Jason Rose, Rose Coe, Radha Mitchell, and Minucci, along with executive producers Fred Ross, Paolo Rossi Besso, Marta Minucci, Holly Heitz, Anthony Stutz, Anna Hatzis, John Hatzis, and Desmond Nakano.

Odenkirk is represented by WME, Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment, The Lede Company, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
