AEW’s top stars have been confirmed to attend the upcoming NJPW show

The New Japan Pro Wrestling trip to the United States is set to feature a huge tag match. It was announced on Wednesday night that AEW’s Eddie Kingston will team up with Kazuchika Okada to face Bullet Club duo Juice Robinson and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White. This clash is set to go down in the main event NJPW Rumble at 44 . Street in New York City later this month. White made enemies with both men standing in front of him, as he routinely mocked Okada before them. NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 bout in January and criticized Kingston for failing to meet him in a three-way match earlier this month.

that Strong NJPW The match was to be between Kingston, Homeside and Utah’s Wheeler of AEW against Wyatt, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows. Kingston’s COVID-19 contraction forced him to withdraw from the match, which saw the Gallows out as well so he could drop as a record haul. Wyatt and Anderson ended up winning, and Switchblade wasted no time in summoning the Mad King for his absence.

“Eddie Kingston, since you don’t have the balls to come to me, I might come to you in New York City,” White said. “And in your city, you can find out what it means to breathe with a Switchblade, because it’s still an era.”

While many expected this to be a singles match, it developed into a tag competition with the additions of Okada and Robinson on both sides. New Japan has been known to run tag matches featuring up-and-coming stars Kingdom wrestle spells, such as when Kenny Omega teamed up with Kota Eboshi to face Will Osprey and Hiroshi Tanahashi a few weeks before Omega faced Tanahashi and Eboshi faded with Osprey in Wrestling Kingdom 14. With Okada already set to challenge White at the NJPW Premiere in January, this match could sow the seeds for a feud between Kingston and Robinson who also culminates in the singles competition in week 17.

AEW President Tony Khan spoke about the possibility of AEW partnering with him Kingdom wrestle before, but he emphasized that the timing of the event would make it difficult.

“One of the challenges this year that we have to watch is the Tokyo Dome on Wednesday,” Khan said. “I’m not happy about that, but I will do my best to support them because they are our partner, but I also can’t send everyone there. If it’s the weekend, I’ll send home because that’s the kind of partner we are.”

NJPW Rumble at 44 . Street Goes on Friday, October 28.
