Elon Musk investigated by federal authorities, claims Twitter

It appears that federal authorities are investigating Elon Musk over the Twitter takeover. Twitter and Elon Musk have been rocking all year after Musk made a bid to buy the social media platform for $44 billion. As the deal was in the process of being approved and funded, Musk released a number of sarcastic tweets about the company. In the end, Elon Musk decided to cancel the deal with Twitter, which led to a lawsuit from the social media platform. In recent weeks, the lawsuit has revealed key behind-the-scenes information about the deal, including text conversations between Musk and Twitter executives, Joe Rogan, and other influencers.

It was a somewhat chaotic ordeal, an ordeal that only increased as the days went by. In a new court document Spotted by BloombergTwitter has claimed that federal authorities are investigating Elon Musk in connection with the acquisition. Twitter said it wanted documents that Elon Musk provided to unnamed federal authorities, noting that it “holds core issues in this litigation” and requested the documents months ago, but has not yet received them. Musk and his legal counsel denied the request, citing the “privilege of the investigation,” something that both the court and Twitter’s lawyers have questioned. As of now, it’s not clear exactly what it’s being investigated for, but it’s about the acquisition. It is also unknown which federal agency is investigating him at this moment.

It remains to be seen if that will be clarified and whether the court will compel Musk and his lawyer to produce the above documents, but this is certainly a unique situation. With the trial date imminent, it will be interesting to see what other information will come out of the deal and what the final verdict is on the matter. Elon Musk recently offered to buy Twitter again, although the social media platform has expressed skepticism about the offer.
