I wish I could go back in time to 7 AM this morning before I started the She-Hulk finale. why? Yes, time travel shouldn’t be lost on minor annoyances, but I wish I knew this episode shouldn’t be watched with subtitles.
She-Hulk episode 9, which was released early today (October 13), is all about subverting expectations. And in order to keep you as fresh and pristine as possible, I’ll keep more details below the spoiler warning below.
However, She-Hulk’s Disney Plus subtitles betray one of the best gags in the end. From the second I saw how one word was set, I knew exactly what was coming next. That was the moment that made me slap my forehead. I did not expect that my translations, which I love, would betray me like this. But this happened.
So, if you watch She-Hulk with subtitles, make sure to turn it off when the episode starts. If you want to hold out as long as possible, you can wait for She-Hulk to crash an event.

What spoils She-Hulk’s subtitles in the end
After She-Hulk breaks the fourth wall and hops into Marvel Studios via a Disney Plus documentary, she makes her way into the She-Hulk writer’s room to demand a better ending. After being ignored by the writers, She-Hulk asks to speak to Kevin, only to be told that no one is allowed to do so.
But the translation does not spell this name as “Kevin”. For everyone but Jane, the name is actually spelled “KEVIN” and that spoils the entire gag that’s about to follow, as it turns out that a robot wearing one of Kevin Feige’s signature hats ran Marvel Studios.
Sure, the banter between Jen and KEVIN is excellent, especially the parts about X-Men, Matt Murdock, and CGI. Not even a spoiler in translation can spoil this scene.
But without the translation, I would have thought Feige would be right there in the flesh. Unfortunately, there was no Kevin. Just Kevin. And it’s annoying that Marvel unnecessarily screwed up a joke.
