Apple’s mixed reality headset is said to have an iris scanner, several cameras, and will be made of aluminum.

It’s been a few months since we last heard anything substantial about Apple’s upcoming mixed reality headset. We’re now getting news that the headset will offer biometric authentication, unique looks, premium build, and more.

According to the source, the new biometric authentication method will work by scanning the user’s iris, allowing him to switch accounts easily and also authorize payments without having to use a password. An iris scanner camera located inside the headset will also be used to provide a better viewing experience for users, allowing for a seamless viewing. With the elaborate display, users will be able to experience the highest resolution picture without straining the headphone’s SoC. This technology delivers what the eye can see in the highest possible quality, while surrounding images are rendered at a lower resolution. It is a completely smart and effective solution as well.

In addition, the new report indicates that Apple’s mixed reality headset will look very different from the recently announced Meta Quest Pro. While the Meta solution looks good, it’s mostly made of plastic. Apple will take a different tack, making its headphones out of aluminum and glass. Because of this, the headset will be much lighter and more luxurious. Moreover, the report states that the front brow area will also be covered with a mesh fabric, providing a completely different look than what we have seen before. Fortunately, those who need to use eyeglasses will be happy to know that Apple will allow the use of prescription lenses but that they will attach magnetically to the inside of the headset.

The price of the first Apple headset is expected to be around $2,000 to $3,000. It will make use of quite a few cameras, maybe even use up to a dozen, and it will have a high-resolution screen. The unit will reportedly be powered by a chip similar to that found in Apple’s latest MacBook laptops. Moreover, there will also be an external display that shows the expression of the user wearing the headset. Although there is no clear release date, many reports point to 2023. While the technology will certainly be important, this will also be a huge release for Apple, as it will be their first new product in some time.
