How does the epilogue prepare new episodes

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power It’s officially finished its first season, and with production already starting for the next batch of episodes, we have an idea of where things are headed for the foreseeable future. Although the final episode was satisfying for viewers, it still left fans with some lingering questions about some of its characters, so we’ll break them all down below.

First, we must address the easiest lines, namely that Isildur is still missing and presumed dead. It was clear after the eruption of Mount Dome that Isildur was dead, even his father left to return to Nymenor believing his son was dead, but as Tolkien’s fans know, there is no way Isildur will die. In the end, when the last alliance of men and elves come together to face Sauron once and for all, the young sailor will be instrumental in defeating the Dark Lord as he cuts off the one ring from his hand (he later refuses to destroy it as well). In short, Isildur is not dead and we should really expect his return, he might have been stuck behind enemy lines

There is also the question of what is actually happening in Númenor. With the death of the rightful king and the blinding of the Queen Regent by Mount Doom, there is a key figure who will play a big role going forward, Ar-Pharazôn. As we previously revealed, the Pharaohs were the last ruler of Nymenor before being swallowed up by the sea, one of the many people corrupted by Sauron in his quest for control. The show hints at this happening to those who know the pharaohs are staring at the king’s corpse. Now, to the meat as Doreen says.

Was that Gandalf in the finale of the Rings of Power?

Although not explicitly confirmed, The Rings of Power has hinted heavily at The Stranger’s actual identity, officially revealing that he’s actually a wizard but also sowing the seed that he might be a familiar face that fans know and love. As the episode draws to a close, The Stranger reveals his intentions to go east, toward Rhûn, to get answers about those stars he’s longing to find (and to see what the trio of people he just defeated was all about). With him is none other than Nori, which is just proof #1 that The Stranger is actually Gandalf the Gray.

Let’s consider two main pieces of evidence (other than the fact that The Stranger is quite charming and likes to hang out with Hobbits’ ancestor): 1. “Alone, it’s just a journey, but adventures must be shared,” which goes back to the tale of Bilbo Baggins; 2. This season’s final Stranger line, “When in doubt.. always follow your nose,” was lifted straight from Gandalf’s dialogue in The Fellowship of the Ring. How could a man not be Gandalf after all? In the end it will be some time before we know for sure, but where he and his friend are headed is clear.

What is Sauron’s plan in the Rings of Power?

In the finale of the season finale of The Rings of Power, Halyx aka Sauron makes his way back to Mordor. What’s exciting about this is that he’ll have to face Adar again, as the fallen genie becomes the leader of those still in the Southlands. It’s unclear what will happen between them, but it looks like it will be a part of Sauron’s history

But what remains are the things we know Sauron did in the Second Age, specifically when he impersonated “Anatar”, who became known as the Lord of Gifts and who charmed men and elves across Middle-earth. Some of this is already covered in the series where Sauron was present when Celebrimbor began forming The Rings of Power. There’s also Sauron’s time influencing politics in Númenor that needs to be covered, but there’s also decades of fighting between his armies and the Elves of Middle-earth long before The Last Alliance was formed. In short, four more chapters may not be enough.
