Magic The Gathering teams up with horror artist Junji Ito to get new spooky cards

The dreaded season is upon us, and as Halloween approaches, magic gathering A surprise revealed that manga artist Junji Ito employs the talents of the manga. Ito, responsible for spooky tales like Uzumaki And the geoNew cards will be drawn as part of the “Secret Lair” collaboration. With Junji Ito likely still the biggest name in horror when it comes to medium anime, Magic The Gathering made the right choice when it came to creating terrifying new decks.

In a recent live broadcast, Magic The Gathering revealed that Junji Ito was creating four new cards for the series, with the shocking style that does well in showing just how terrifying these cards can be. The cards themselves, named Doomsday, Thoughtseize, Carrion Feeder, and Plaguecrafter, will be available later this month starting October 17 at a retail price of $29.99 for the standard print and $39.99 for a special “etched” version.

A breakdown of each card individually and what its capabilities were revealed during the live broadcast and read as such:

  • Thoughtseize – The target player reveals his hand. You can choose a non-ground card from them. This player discards that card. 2 lives lost.
  • Doomsday – Search your library and graveyards for five cards and banish the rest. Place the selected cards on top of your library in any order. You lose half your life and approx.
  • Carrion Feeder – Carrion Feeder cannot be prevented. Sacrifice a creature: Place +1/+1 counter on the Carrion Feeder. He does not respect the deeds of the martyrs, and reduces their inheritance to a morsel of meat.
  • Plaguecrafter When a Plaguecrafter enters the battlefield, each player sacrifices a creature or aircraft walk. Each player cannot discard a card.
