Comcast Spectacor, the cable and entertainment giant’s sports and esports division, told G4 TV employees Sunday that the gaming network will be shutting down immediately. The decision has resulted in 45 G4 TV employees losing their jobs.

As you know, the G4 was relaunched last year to capitalize on the popularity of gaming. We’ve invested in creating the new G4 as an online and TV destination for fans to entertain, inspire, and connect with gaming content.
Over the past several months, we’ve worked hard to generate that interest in G4, but viewership is low and the network hasn’t delivered sustainable financial results. This was certainly not what we had hoped for, and as a result, we have made the very difficult decision to discontinue G4 operations, effective immediately.
I know this is disappointing news, and I am also disappointed. I would like to thank you and all members of the G4 team for your hard work and commitment to the network.
