Pearland, Texas (KTRK) – Officials have confirmed that five people, including one juvenile, died in a two-car collision near Shadow Creek Parkway, according to the Pearland Police Department.
The accident occurred at about 7:28 p.m. Saturday. Berland officers were called to Building 14700 of SH 288 South Frontage Road about a major two-vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, a preliminary investigation determined that a red car was heading south and collided with the second vehicle, causing it to overturn and eject four of the five passengers inside, according to police.
Officials said three of the four who were expelled were pronounced dead at the scene.
Berland said the fourth person and the remaining passenger in the second car were taken to hospital for further evaluation.
Officials said the other passengers in the red car were taken to hospital for treatment for injuries.
Officials announced the death of the driver of the red car.
Part of the 288 southbound lanes that police are currently investigating have been closed.
Those heading in this direction are encouraged to use alternative methods.
