Wakanda Forever targeting announcement appears away from the Iron Heart Arm Cannon

Next Black Panther: Wakanda Forever It will see Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the character (played by Dominique Thorne) is also the star of a new advertising campaign for Target. The new ad spotlights young black women in STEM in the 60s position, but it also shows a bit more of Ironheart’s work — particularly the character’s impressive arm-cannon.

The ad itself focuses on Riri working on her Ironheart suit while also featuring young black girls working on their own designs and experiences. A young woman at Target is seen continuing to work on her design in the middle of the LEGO retailer’s section while Riri stops by to get some of her supplies – and meets the young woman, encouraging her before returning to her design. The ad is part of a larger Target rollout that includes merchandise and an in-store scanable augmented reality experience as part of what is described as “telling a story of excellence, innovation and inspiration”.

“In collaboration with Target, we tell a story of excellence, innovation, and inspiration” (via AdWeek). “Through activities within the store and in the community, we want to encourage young thinkers to find inspiration from the world of Wakanda and embrace their own ingenuity.”

Who is the Iron Heart?

Ironheart was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato in 2015. She became the successor to Iron Man after the death of Tony Stark, and became Marvel’s flagship. Invincible Iron Man series. What does the Iron Heart have to do with Black Panther and Wakanda?

In the comics, Ironheart first travels to Wakanda while searching for an ancient wellspring of power. There, she met Shuri, her fellow young genius (and likely the new Black Panther in the MCU). After the kind of bad first impression that happens all the time when two superheroes meet, Riri and Shuri bond. Shuri makes it clear that there is a place in Wakanda for Riri if she wants to come and stay.

Riri Shuri did not accept this offer. However, she returns to the country to help them build a space fleet to fend off the intergalactic invasion by Emperor Ngadaka.
