Gundam is spreading fast thanks to a crew of ice skaters

When it comes to Gundam, the franchise can do anything it wants. From direct action projects to onshore cargo collaborations, the Mica Chain has clout to support its plans. Of course, fans are always out to show their love for Gundam, and the success of releases like Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury proves that. And now, there’s a new viral video doing the same thanks to some bold skateboarders.

As you can see below, there’s a clip going viral on social media right now, bringing Gundam suits to an unexpected place. A few snowboarders are shown cutting snow in Japan in their Gundam costume. So if you ever wanted to see the RX-78-2 pick up some air, it’s your time.

The story behind the snow

For those curious about this clip and its origins, it comes from a team of snowboarders in Japan. Twitter user Nama Gundam He is one of them, and can be found in this video wearing the iconic RX-78-2 anime costume. It turns out their entire crew is obsessed with Gundam, and they felt it would be fun hitting the slopes in mecha suits.

Of course, this isn’t the only way fans can show their love for Gundam to the world. Not everyone can ice skate, after all, it takes impressive skills to get on the ice while in heavy fancy dress. Casual fans can always check out the Gunpla sets from Bandai Namco as the Gundam franchise is better known for those models. There are designs available for every skill level, and we’re sure they’ll cost less than an expensive set of snowboarding lessons! But if you’re intent on recreating this viral clip, well – all we can do is wish you good luck!
