The Game of thrones Franchise is no stranger to tragedy. Just mentioning the red wedding or saying “You don’t know anything, Jon Snow” is enough to bring tears to fans’ eyes. The series had a lot of sad moments and stories. Dragon Housea Game of thrones A prequel, it would also have quite a few tragic and devastating stories, especially given the nature of one family at war with itself. This Sunday’s new episode, “The Green Council,” kicked off what may be the saddest story in all of House of the Dragon, as the show gave viewers time to learn about Erryk and Arryk Cargyll.

Twins Eric and Eric Cargill are members of the Kingsguard, and both served King Viserys during his reign. They appeared in the background of last week’s episode, but “The Green Council” saw them take on much larger roles in the story, essentially starting their arc. The Twin Knights were tasked with finding Aegon II, who was lost in King’s Landing after his father’s death, and asked to bring him directly to Otto Heator.
While Erryk and Arryk start the episode on the same page, they’re going in completely opposite directions by the time it’s over. Erryk sees corruption in the Red Keep and doesn’t think it’s right, but Arryk feels loyalty to Otto and Aliscent. This causes a split between them, as Erryk tries to do the right thing and help Rhaenys Targaryen escape from King’s Landing. This will put them on opposite sides of the final war.
What happens to Eric and Eric Cargill?
In George RR Martin fire and bloodEric ends up defecting to join the black group led by Rhinera Targaryen. That journey officially began when the Rhaenys were released without anyone knowing. He will eventually make his way to Dragonstone to join the ranks of the Queensguard of Rhaenyra, while Arryk remains in King’s Landing to serve Alicent and Aegon.
The twins’ story becomes tragic as the dragon dance begins. Arryk is eventually sent to Dragonstone to obtain information about Rhaenyra’s plans by impersonating his twin brother. The plan works until Arryk and Erryk actually cross. They end up in a sword fight, and both mortally wound the other, eventually dying in each other’s arms. It is a very sad ending for two brothers who loved each other deeply.
