House of the Dragon reveals King Viserys’ successor to the Iron Throne

from the first episode, Dragon House Prove that its main story revolves around the succession of King Viserys Targaryen. He appointed his daughter, Rinera, as his successor, as he did not have a son to replace him. After marrying Alicent Hightower, Viserys had several sons and many thought he should make the eldest the next king, but he stuck to his land and kept Rhaenyra in the next row. At the end of last week’s episode, Viserys passed away, leaving Westeros without a king. This week’s episode officially puts the next ruler on the Iron Throne.

It was Viserys’ wish that Rhaenyra become queen, but Alicent misunderstood the king’s last words. Or maybe you just heard what you want to hear. Either way, she clearly believes that Viserys told her he wanted their son, Aegon, on the Iron Throne. Egon has not expressed any interest in becoming king, but that doesn’t seem to matter. During Sunday night’s episode, with Rhaenyra away from King’s Landing, Alicent and Otto Aegon are crowned as the next King of Westeros.

What happens to Rinera?

Rhinera has the right to the throne, considering that her father hand-picked her to take power after his death. Not everyone saw her that way, though, and they left her outside looking inside. Her half-brother is now the King of Westeros, which would not get along with Rhinera. This will eventually lead to a war between the members of House Targaryen known as Dance of the Dragons.

Westeros would eventually be split between Reinera and Aegon II, as both believed they had a claim to the throne. There will be those throughout the kingdom who will believe that Rhinera is the true ruler, and she will be crowned as such. For a while, there will be two people who call themselves the rulers of Westeros.

Eventually, Westeros’ focus will turn to the children of Aegon and Rhaenyra, but that is still a long way off. Currently, the right to rule is brother against brother.
