The king died. Alicent is informed and gives instructions to anyone else to be told. She told Otto of Viserys’ last words to her, and that she believed he wanted Aegon to be king. Otto calls the small council and tells them about Viserys’ supposed plan, and we learn that the group was already planning to put Aegon on the Iron Throne. Lord Lyman challenges the rest of the Council, calls their plots treasonous, and Creston forces him to sit down, accidentally killing him in the process. Knowing that she will never bend a knee to Aegon, the Small Council is clearly planning to kill both Rhaenyra and Daemon. Alicent vehemently opposed this course of action, but Otto gave the order to Ser Westerling to do Dragonstone and quietly dispose of the family. Westerling removes his robe and resigns as Lord Kingsjord.
Prince Aegon is missing, he’s gone to King’s Landing secretly. Otto enlists the help of his twin knights Arryk and Erryk Cargyll for him. Meanwhile, Rhaenys is locked up in her room and all the servants who learn of Viserys’ death are taken to the dungeons. Otto tells Arryk to return Aegon to him without telling anyone, while Alicent instructs the same to Criston Cole. Aemond joins Cole, because he knows many Aegon secrets. Otto invites representatives from several houses to inform them of the changes in the heir to the Iron Throne. A couple refuse to bend the knee to Aegon, after they pledged allegiance to Rhaenyra years ago. Those who resist are taken out in handcuffs.
Raines and Aliscent discuss how to deal with the heir to the Iron Throne. Apparently Rhaenys was loyal to Rhaenyra and Daemon, but Alicent jumps to win them over. Rhaenys thinks Alicent thinks about the little things and just keeps on meeting the needs of the men around her. Meanwhile, Otto meets the mysterious white worm, which is revealed to be Mesaria. Not only does she know where Aegon is, she proves her prowess as Lady Whispers by acknowledging the king’s death, despite the fact that nearly everyone who knows her has been locked away. In exchange for information, you want the kids in Flea Bottom to stop being hurt and used in sports. Eamond and Cole witness the meeting.
Arryk and Erryk find Aegon, thanks to Mysaria, and plan to take him to Otto. They are ambushed by Aemond and Cole, who have captured Aegon and plot to return him to his mother. Aliscent gets Aegon before Otto can tell him that she does not plan to kill Rhinera and her family, a decision Otto obviously disagrees with. But he’s not in control at the moment. Alicent then meets Larys and he tells her that there is a network of spies throughout King’s Landing and within the Red Keep, including her child, Talia. Tell her that the only way to fix the problem is to cut it from the source, which means the white worm must be killed.
Erryk finds Rhaenys and tells her that he wants to get her out of King’s Landing because he can’t stand the injustice that is happening. She wants to get to the Dragon Pit to get her dragon, but he says they are expecting her there, so she needs to leave by boat. They break up in a huge crowd and end in the coronation of King Aegon. After Aegon’s coronation and seeing the attention he’s getting from the audience, it looks like he’s finally accepted his role. As the crowd cheered, something exploded on the ground below, causing panic and chaos. Rhaenyra and her dragon come from underground and stare at Alicent, Aegon and the whole family. She can end things right then and there, but she chooses not to. I left them there alive and flying out of King’s Landing.
